About Coach Gerald
Baseball has been integral to Gerald’s life since Little League. Excelling on his High School team at La Quinta in Southern California led him to be drafted as a catcher in the second round by the Oakland A’s at 18 years old. After a successful run in the MLB including winning the 2011 World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals and a total tenure of 13 years in the Big Leagues, he has dedicated his life to coaching young players. This includes stints with the Detroit Tigers as a single A Manager, Team USA’s 18U National Team, and Catching Coordinator and Bench Coach for the KBO Lotte Giants. He is passionate about his current roles as Head Baseball Coach at Saguaro High School and head of the AZ Runners baseball program.
“My mission as a coach is to teach commitment to your team, dedication and hard work. Nothing is just handed to you. You must have these three traits in order to succeed as an athlete.”
